| The Board of Supervisors in Cherokee County, Iowa is the legislative body of the county The Board of Supervisor's are elected according to Plan Three of the 1984 Code of Iowa, Chapter 331.208. It is composed of five members elected at large. Vacancies in the Board of Supervisors are filled by appointment made by the County Auditor, County Recorder and the Clerk of District Court. Term, four years; bond required, not less than $10,000.
The Board of Supervisors is the legislative body of the county and the following are some of its important duties and powers:  | Approves bonds of county officials |  | Approves reports of county officials |  | Establishes and vacates public highways |  | Levies taxes to raise revenues for county purposes |  | Allows claims against the county and orders same paid |  | Fills vacancies in county offices, except members of its own body |  | Allows or disallows homestead credit claims and military exemptions |  | Approves cigarette, beer and liquor applications for permits outside cities |  | Refunds taxes on property erroneously assessed |

| Dean and his wife Donna live on a farm in Liberty Township north of
Meriden. Dean and his wife farm. They also have a
calf-cow operation.
Dean and Donna are the proud parents of two daughters and four
grandchildren.

Mark and his wife Missy have lived in Cherokee all their lives. Mark is serving his first term as County Supervisor and will be up for re-election in 2010. Mark is also full time employee of R.J. Thomas Manufacturing and Missy does day care in their home. They have been blessed by their four children: Rubi, Kyle, Kaiden and Katelyn. Mark and Missy are also busy in their local church and being foster parents.

| Terry and his wife Lou live in Cherokee. Terry is the Warehouse Director at Hy-Vee and Lou is a secretary for the Cherokee Community School District. They have three sons: Heath in Fort Collins, Co., Nate in Cheyenne Wyoming, and Bart in Iowa City.

Larry Prunty, Supervisor District 2 Elected: 2008
| Larry lives on a farm north of Cleghorn. Larry just retired from Tyson's Cherokee plant after forty-two and a half years. He keeps busy raising a few head of livestock and doing a little mechanical work as a hobby.

| Jeff and
his wife Annie live near Quimby in Willow Township.
Jeff is part-owner of Simonsen Industries, Inc. Annie
teaches school in Washta for the River Valley Community
School District. They are the proud parents of four
sons: Drew, Phillip, Steven & Carl
